The curriculum emphasizes mastery of the basic subjects of reading, writing, mathematics and spelling. Other courses include foreign languages, science, social studies, humanities and physical education.
Bishop-Eton recognizes that many students who have learning problems possess significant technical, visual and intuitive talents. To take advantage of these abilities, courses such as computer technology, art, humanities, hands-on science and sports are offered.
To ensure personalized instruction, Bishop-Eton maintains a low student/teacher ratio with an average class size of three to twelve students. The nurturing faculty utilizes a combination of multi-sensory, experiential methods and materials which include visual (sight), auditory (hearing), tactile (touch), and kinesthetic (movement) teaching techniques to help in the education process. Special therapeutic programs, including the Orton-Gillingham materials and methods, the Wilson Reading Program and language-based programs are available for those students requiring prescriptive, one-to-one instruction.
